Why Prophesy? Scripture Meditation: 1 Corinthians 14:3 - "But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men." (NKJV)
Understanding the true meaning of prophesy has been a transformative journey for me. Initially, I believed that only prophets could prophesy, but a deeper understanding of the word has revealed that all believers in the kingdom can prophesy. As believers, when we prophesy the word of God, it should build up and encourage others, as stated in the scripture. Take time to read 1 Corinthians 14 in its entirety to gain a comprehensive understanding. To prophesy the word of God over ourselves or others is to declare or decree divinely inspired words derived from the written scriptures. Let us also read Ezekiel 37, where God instructs the prophet to prophesy to a dead situation so that it may come alive. The word of God is living and powerful, capable of bringing life to any lifeless circumstance. The word of God holds immense power (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16).
Prayer: Dear God, please forgive me for doubting that every word in your scripture is true. John 17:17 tells us that you are not a man who would lie (Numbers 23:19). I wholeheartedly believe in you, God, and I trust your word completely.
Prophesy: I prophesy the blessings of the Lord over you, for He enriches and adds no sorrow to it (Proverbs 10:22). I declare that every need in your life is met in Jesus' name. John 10:10 declares that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came so that we may have abundant life. I decree and declare that the abundant life that God has planned for you will manifest in Jesus' name.
